Just got back from MJ's Birthday Bashment in Atlanta...
Duno if any of you are into house/electronic/rave/etc, but for those who are...
Venue was awesome. Huge trade center warehouse with 4 rooms -- huge main room, and 4 smaller rooms for Drum N Bass, Breaks, Dubstep and Local DJs. The party was from 9 or 10pm till 7am. I left around 4:30am cuz soooo tired.
Caught Kimball Collins when we came in at the main room. Then saw Calibre in the DNB room waiting for Aphrodite to get on. Some Micky Finn guy went on before Aphrodite was on, but he rocked so it was all good. Round about when he threw on his first record, you could smell the reefer in the room. Uberzone's opening was pretty badass. Mixed in Prodigy's Outer Space track and some other old-school tracks really well. Hybrid came on around 3:30am, and I got my old Hybrid shirt signed again.
Very old-school rave vibe to the whole thing. A ton of candy kids in raver gear and glowsticks and a lot of people who were just dressed casual and comfy (me, jeans + tee shirt.) Lots of people were very intoxicated, but it was a lot cooler than Rock shows or Hip-Hop clubs where people just get rude and mean when they are intoxicated. Several people came up and asked me where they could score, but I wasn't on anything and didn't know, so I told them GL, but sorry. My wife got a candy bracelet from some teen who said his name was Nitrogen or Nebulous or something like that.
Definitely took me back a few years to when there were some real parties going on. Was good to get to a show that wasn't in a club with snobby club people.
Cheers! ^.^
