Gaming Notebook Suggestions

Well Im often traveling lately so Im thinking of buying one for my gaming needs.
Im thinking of getting an Asus Gseries or a Toshiba Qosmio but Im open to suggestions,
nothing too expensive tho... something around $2k price range.

I'd look at the gfx card provided most of all. That is going to have the biggest performance increase for most games, IMO.

ive got an hp zd8000 thats has an x600 card. Certaintly old but works for all games so far and could be found cheap.

i've got hp something need to look it up but it's perfect for gaming ... thx to quad core processor :O

a friend of mine works for HP tech support and he says theyre horrible with laptops because basically HP is a big company that bought little ones to make pieces for her so its very hard for them to give tech support when things break and he said theyre so disorganized

i have an HP lapop too
didnt really have any problems
i know Dell's laptops are good, not sure about gaming though

I'd rather buy an HP lappy than a Dell one, cos no matter how "disorganized" HP may be, Dell customer support sucks. o.o

+1 (unless you got enterprise support... which is for companies and pretty damn expensive )

i see what my friend is telling people to do and i just laugh at how stupid their text things are

i dont really like acer
they have "good numbers" but the quality isnt the best.
I have one ASUS with almost 2 years old it start giving me hardware problems now but the support is good and they changed the hardware that was giving problems for a new one (even changed the cover that was broke).
When I had problems with my old acer they made much problems to fix it -.- saying that had to send it to Germany or something and would take +4 weeks -_-' dunno if is just in Portugal or not but I didn't liked the technical support.
Now that my ASUS is fixing I was using my mother laptop and in ursa when I make room pulls I lag with the acer and I almost never had lag with the ASUS.

The ASUS have 2GB RAM, 512MB Graphic and 2GHz CPU
ACER have 3GB RAM, 1024MB Graphic and 2GHz CPU

But.... if you look a the details that they dont usually show in the cover else the big numbers you can understand why just for example ASUS CPU have 4MB cache and ACER have only 1MB (and the ASUS is almost 2 years older)

Probably many other "little details" like DDR2 vs DDR3 or disks with + or - speed/cache make the difference...

This whole topic is way over my head... but I just got a HP and I reeeally like it if that counts . I even got a cheap one and it's pretty rockin, so a better investment would be SUPER rockin! Haha, sorry I couldn't be more help

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I think I will go with an Asus product since they have nice specs and overall design and the customer service looks good in my area.

HP is good too but I already have too many HP product, I dont want to look like a fanboy of HP.

Acer is out of the question, bad history with my family!

Alienware is out too since the brand name is more expensive than the actual hardware content.

Now time to muster resources and lessen living expenses for awhile...

Ooo so I bought the Toshiba Qosmio F50

I like the design and performance... only downside is the weight.
Its like you're carrying around a baby goat in one arm.

Its 3x more powerful than my desktop pc.
Now I run around anywhere in Rappelz at max graphic settings.





Now I can browse my art collection properly wherever I go!

bak onto subject, im still using my year-old hp pav 7 laptop lol. cant handle toa sieges much but i still dp fine. i stick to hp packages usually bcuz of their balance in price vs performance/quality.

and yes: acer/dell is ftl and deserves to find itself to the trash bin within a week

im too poor for alienware or voodoo comps; voodoo is my dream but the top model is like a new car (im planning on substituting my car's place on my 18th bday wishlist with a voodoo xD)
